Colouration of exterior masonry paints is notoriously difficult.

Exterior masonry paints are specially formulated to allow the underlying cement and concrete to breathe. Often, silicate paints are used for this application, but the alkaline nature of these paints restricts the colour palette to inorganic pigments only.

In-plant tinting systems operate with a limited number of canisters, and pigments are carefully selected to provide extremes of colour.
