Powder coating is a technology growing in importance, offering a hygienic, solvent-free method of applying a coating. The fully automated, dry process means that over-spray is recycled, minimising waste and therefore offering a cost–effective but high quality finish for metal, plastic and wood substrates.

30% of powder coatings are supplied to the General Industrial OEM market, and 70% to building, household appliances, automotive and electrical engineering industries. Powder coating is gradually taking market share from wet paint, with an estimated 30% annual growth rate in Europe.

The industry is undergoing considerable change, with widespread reformulation away from Lead-containing stabilisers and colourants; presently there is no completely ideal solution.
